[comp.unix.ultrix] Mail11v3 crashes with segmentation fault !

jenst@cernvax.UUCP (Jens Trier Rasmussen) (03/21/90)

The problem appears when mail11v3 issues the HEAD command in order to
inspect a To: field in a message and that message has a very long To:
field (in this case 1447 characters).

Mail11v3 dies with a segmentation fault. We are running DECnet-Ultrix
RISC 3.0

Following is a part of the syslog file (edited):

Mar 14 15:39:22 localhost: 23962 mail11v3: From: YYYYYYY
 FullName: "", DestNode: ZZZZZZ
Mar 14 15:39:22 localhost: 23962 mail11v3: <<< HELO dxmint.cern.ch

Mar 14 15:39:23 localhost:
Mar 14 15:39:23 localhost: 23962 mail11v3: Signal "Segmentation fault",
faulting VA 0x40, pc is 0x411420
Mar 14 15:39:23 localhost: 23957 sendmail: <HHHHHHHHHHHHHH>...

Mar 14 15:39:23 localhost: 23957 sendmail: AA23955:
SYSERR: mailer mail11 died with signal 213
Mar 14 15:39:23 localhost: 23957 sendmail: AA23955:
 SYSERR: smtpquit mail11: stat 75

As you can see from the syslog we are running with mail11.Trace,
mail11.Debug and mail11.Verbose.

My theory is that the internal buffers in mail11v3 are too small. If this
is correct how do I get a version with larger buffers ?
