I am trying to setup a modem for dialin on a VAX3600 running Ultrix 3.1 with two CXY08-AF/RV Aysnc cards. We have in the past had several different modems with which we could dial ok with, but I never have been able to dial in correctly. The problem is usually that though the connection is made, the parity or the setup on the tty port is wrong as the login message etc is scrambled. Also in general have not been happy with dialout, as after some time (days) the modem need to be manually reset. These are all have been "hayes or AT" compatibles. Also we can't get the share option in the ttys file to work correctly in that we can't tip or kermit out with a getty running? I looking for examples entries in ttys, remote, acucap, gettytab for a successful setup, and the type of modem in use. This would be a great help.
