[comp.unix.ultrix] High Accuracy Timing?

I need to get highly accurate times from within a program I'm writing.
Although 'gettimeofday' returns seconds and microseconds, the
microseconds are not updated very often.  Two or more successive calls
end up showing the same time.

Can anyone suggest a way to get more accurate times out of Ultrix?  If
it matters, I'm running a VAXstation 3100.
