Hi, I am about to start a big project which involves a VAX3900 system running Ultrix, and a number of VAXstations, PCs and Macintoshes. I want to tie all systems together in one network, so they can make use of all services that are available. The big VAX will serve the workstations, run yellow pages etc., and it must be a file server (also mail server and print server, if possible) for the PCs and Macs. The Macs are plushes and SEs, not IIs. The PCs are 386 based systems running MS-DOS. My question: are there any folks around who have already done such a thing, and are willing to share some of their experiences. I am especially interested in what software to use to serve the PCs and Macs. Yes, I have read about DEC LanWorks, but that seems to be intended for a different operating system :-( . Any help is appreciated, and I will summarize to the net if relevant.
