I wonder if someone might be able to help me with an ULTRIX question. Our problem is that one of our machines (VAX 8530) is running ULTRIX 3.0. We decided to stay there after we heard of the LAT problems in 3.1 (also that the early 3.1 LAT patch did not completely fix LAT). We currently have a problem that Ultrix Software Support has a fix for in 3.1 but not 3.0. Our machine HANGS and the load average skyrockets whenever a remote machine goes down that we import a nfs file system from. Questions: 1) In your experience has LAT been fixed for 3.1? 2) Have you had the NFS problem with 3.1. If not did you have a patch installed to fix it. 3) We run DECNET/DECserver 200 and DECserver 5x0/VMS/SUNs/YP/DISKLESS environment. Is 3.1 stable for us? Should we specifically ask for certain patches (Support will not give a list of patches nor send all of the patches). 4) Should I grin and bear it until 4.0 comes along (which may well have its share of bugs)? Any help will be greatly appreciated. thanks, Doug Gullett UNIX System Administrator University of NC at Charlotte
