I have a VAXstation 3500 running Ultrix 3.1 (Rev 9) which is constantly generating I/O error from almost any command. This problem develops over the course of a few hours following reboot. NFS is configured, but only biods are running (no filesystems are exported). DECNET is configured. The problem appears to involve the /var partition, but I can't put my finger on the real problem. I have a VAX 11/750 which is similiarly configured, but does not exhibit the problem. We have a bizarre support arrangement on these machines, so I have not called Atlanta as yet. It remains possible that it may be a hardware problem, but uerf is not revealing any interesting information. Funny thing is that I was running this same software without nfs and it was pretty reliable. Is that the problem? Please direct replys to me and I will summarize. And excuse me if this has already been discussed. I don't read comp.unix.ultrix all the time. Thanks in advance. -- Stan internet: sob@bcm.tmc.edu Director, Networking Olan uucp: {rutgers, mailrus}!bcm!sob and Systems Support Barber Opinions expressed are only mine. Baylor College of Medicine
