We have just received a DS5000/200 with Sony 19" color screen. The ULTRIX 4.0 was copied onto the disk by DEC, and while ULTRIX boots OK, the X server dumps core. Any suggestions or hints would be appreciated. Yeah, you are running the wrong X server on your machine, which is a 2DA (DS5000/PX). You are attempting to run the color frame buffer server (which runs on the CX option). It is unfriendly that Xcfb core dumps rather than give you a bit more helpful message. At some point in time, this trap for the unwary will go away, with a single server that will run on either kind of hardware (as a side effect of the multi-screen work). Not sure what release that will be, however. BTW, thanks for the detailed bug report, as the boot sequence tells the tale exactly. - Jim
