We have a WangDAT 1300 scsi drive to connect to a uVAX3200 (I'm using an old VaxStationII to test) running Ultrix3.1. We were sold a Sigma RQD11 scsi controller (emulates KDA50) to run the tape; it looks like a TK50 to Ultrix. The system recognizes the conroller and tape at boot time; I can do `mt -f /dev/rmt0h status' and it looks OK. Writing tapes produces errors almost immediately, whether using dd, dump, tar, or whatever. Example: # dd if=/vmunix of=/dev/nrmt0h write: error 0 0+3 records in 0+1 records out Then the system hangs and must be manually restarted. BTW, the controller works fine with several different scsi disks and the WangDAT works well on a DS5000/Ultrix4.0. I don't know if we just have the controller/drive configured wrong, or if these things just don't like to talk to each other. The (unnamed) vendor is dragging their heels in providing support to get this thing running; it's been two weeks since delivery and we've made little progress. Anyone have this configuration working? Any clues appreciated.
