Dear Netlanders:
Thanks to all who responded on how to hook up and use an Apple
Laserwriter on ULTRIX. The general consensus was to tell ULTRIX that the
Apple was an LN03R. Some people used Transcript software instead. All who
responded indicated that it was possible to use an Apple Laserwriter on ULTRIX
for Postscript output. Now here is the problem. I have successfully
put up a printcap file that allows ULTRIX to print to the Apple Laserwriter.
On a Postscript file, the banner page comes out, and then the printer quits
printing. On a text file, only two or three pages of a long file will come
out. DEC Atlanta seems to think it is a flow control problem between the
Laserwriter and the VAXstation. I have a VAXstation 3100 running ULTRIX 3.1
and a Laserwriter Plus (vintage 1987). Has anyone experienced anything
similar? Any tips?
