I'm glad the subject of which disk to buuy came up. I'm a software engineer, and a contractor. I've been thinking about getting a some really nice machien for home (e.g. a Sparc SLC). Now the question is "What drive?" Looking in some local free publications in which people advertise all sort of bargain basement hardware & such I see that it seems that I can get very good prices on Fujitsu SCSI drives. In particular, I saw a 778 MB (2263SA) drive advertised for as low as $1880 and a 389 MB (2249) drive for only $1200 (SCSI version). The advertisements say that these drives come with 5 year warranty, and that they have an MTBF of 200,000 hours. That all sounds pretty good to me. Is there some catch I should know about? Are these good drives? Is there any reason whatsoever that I should not be able to just plug & play one of these drives (as the boot device) with a Sparc SLC? -- // Ron Guilmette - C++ Entomologist // Internet: rfg@ncd.com uucp: ...uunet!lupine!rfg // Motto: If it sticks, force it.
