#N:beta:5500002:000:645 beta!ed Jul 13 17:05:00 1982 I am looking for a hard disk for my S-100 (IEEE-696) system. Cost IS the object. I don't want to spend a lot of money on this. I am willing to make price/performance trade-offs. BYTE has lots of ads. My question to the community... What would you recommend (remember price counts)? What should be avoided? Why do you make this suggestion? Speed/reliability/support/gut feeling... I would like about 10Mbytes with the ability to expand up to larger storage later. It MUST adhere to IEEE-696 (proposed) as much as possible, especially the addressing. Responses to ...!decvax!sytek!zehntel!ed and I will summarize for all to see. Thanks, ed

I am preparing to purchase a winchester style hard disk for
my PC. Anyone out there have any recomendations/warnings. I will
be using it extensively, so I do not want a lemon!

Can anyone supply me with info regarding the following hard disk systems?
I am mainly interested in comments from people who have them or
know of someone who has them. Any problems with them?
- Shugart 712 10mb half-height internal
- Seagate ST-225 20 mb half-height
You can send replies directly to me or post them to the net. (Others may
want to know also.
