I'm trying to hook up a Sony Read-Write Optical drive to a DECstation 3100 running Ultrix 4.0. Apparently the DECstation speaks SCSI2 and the MO speaks some subset of that. Therefore, mode select fails. Does anyone know how to make the DECstation speak to the MO and not freak when the MO doesn't return enough data? Is the PROM upgrade for the Sony the only solution?
