We have been seening some strange things happening to our print queue. We have a lps40, running over DECnet, and we queue to it using our VAX 6000-310 running Ultrix 4.0. We are using the printserver software that came with 4.0. Our problem is with 0 length jobs. For some reason, every once in a while we get a 0 length job in the queue. The job just sits in the queue until its deleted. It also hoses up the rest of the queue, so jobs can't be printed. Here is some output from the error file for the printer: ar_handler: module LPS_EOJ not found /usr/lib/lpd: lp: Tue Sep 18 18:39:45 1990: Job 354, Retry #9 in 1800 secs ar write error: Bad file number ar_handler: module LPS_EOJ not found /usr/lib/lpd: lp: Tue Sep 18 19:09:45 1990: Job 354, Retry #10 in 1800 secs I looked in /usr/lib/lpdfilters/lps_v3.a with ar, and it does seem to have a LPS_EOF module in it. Here is our printcap entry for the LPS40: lp|kl|kl_ansi|kl_ps|ps:\ :ct=network:\ :lf=/usr/adm/lpd-errs:\ :of=/usr/lib/lpdfilters/lpscomm OULPS %U %H %J:\ :ps=LPS:\ :sd=/usr/spool/lp/kl:\ :uv=4.0:\ :Da=ascii:\ :Dl=/usr/lib/lpdfilters/lps_v3.a:\ :Sd=a:\ :It=bottom:\ :mx#0:pw#80:pl#66: Has anyone experienced this problem? Execept for the 0 length file problem, everything else is printing fine! Thanx, Roland -- Roland J.
