I've got a list of software to install on the decstations that seems endless
so when I saw an ad from Arbortext it caught my attention. I'd like to know
1) Is it easy to install, compared with digging up TeX, a previewer, and
dvi2ps by ftp and installing them?
2) How about features? Anything outstanding? Anything lacking?
3) Speed...fast, slow?
It would be nice if DEC had bundled the pd versions in the unsupported tape
and freshened the whole thing up for Ultrix 4.0 (still has gnuemacs 18.51...)
In fact, in the Ultrix Handbook, EC-H0592-43/90, p 6-6 says:
In addition to the capabilities of CDA, the ULTRIX operating system
provides facilities for manipulating and transporting compound document
files, including:
* A DECwindows application for viewing compound documents ... .
* vdoc - a terminal-oriented application ... .
* TeX and LaTeX - high-quality typesetting of text, especially text with
mathematical content.
What is the connection between CDA and TeX? I guess there isn't one, since I
can't find TeX on the tape.
But I digress. If you know something about Arbortext's package, I'd like to
talk to you.
