Once again, I'm looking for help from the network that knows everithing. Given the high number of answers on the use of 3rd party disks on DEC machines, does anyone use 3rd party disks on a microVAX 2000 ? What I'd like to know is whether I'm limited to 150MB disks, as the RD54 is, or there are other, larger disks that I can connect to the back connector of my microVAX 2000 ? Do I need special device drivers ? The drive should come with a manual describing the track and sector information. With this, you will need to create an entry in /etc/disktab (assuming it's not there already). Once this is done, you should be able to newfs(8) a filesystem on the new disk that will use the extra available space. You should not need any special device drivers. The disk driver in ULTRIX reads the disk's configuration information off the super block at boot time.
