Hi, where I work we have a MicroVax 3600 running Ultrix 3.1 (rev 9). This machine is connected to approx 20 DecServer 200's via LAT, each server having 8 serial ports. When I try to use kermit to transfer files from a PC to the Vax the Vax has this annoying tendency to crash! (This also happens with other terminal programs it isn't limited to kermit). Downloading from Vax to PC is fine. Any ideas anyone? (the Panic machine on the console is sometimes m_free has bad m_cltype and sometimes it is 'protection fault'). Secondly (are more importantly) we are considering upgrading to version 4. We have the boxes, software, manuals etc etc etc, but haven't yet performed the upgrade. What I need to know is: how compatible is v4 with 3.1? Will *all* precompiled software (eg Uniplex, S-Telex) work without a hitch? does anyone have any experience with these programs? Thanks for your time and effort, Stephen Harris PS: Mail be your answers and I'll sumarize (if I can:-) ) -- Stephen Harris Disclaimer: me have an opinion? | Email: sweh%uucp.tharr@uk.co.bt.axion What an idea! | (But don't ask me what gateways) <-- tharr *free* public access to Usenet in the UK 0234 261804 -->

Call the support center and get the patch tape appropriate to your release. -- George Robbins - now working for, uucp: {uunet|pyramid|rutgers}!cbmvax!grr but no way officially representing: domain: grr@cbmvax.commodore.com Commodore, Engineering Department phone: 215-431-9349 (only by moonlite)
