Hi, I wanted to install AutoCAD 10.0 on a DECStation 2100. Besides other requirements AutoCAD wants to have Ultrix OS Version 3.1 and DECWindows 2.1. AutoCAD runs fine if I use any other X-Server than DEC's Xcfb (e.g. Sparc with MIT X11R4, PC-XView from GSS, AIX-Windows PS/2, DEC's Xmfb). If it runs on Xcfb, the drawing editor can be envoked, a drawing starts to come up, but when menues are loades, the X-server crashes, monitor gets dark and after some time X-server is restarted an I have to log in again. This happens on the machine where AutoCad is installed and on other Xcfb-systems. So what am I doing wrong? I have trouble to detect what OS and WindowVersion I am running. /etc/motd says DEC UWS 2.1 (as recommended) but the dms-utility tells me that I have Ultrix 3.0 and UWS 2.1. My licence papers show that DEC has Ultrix 3.1 installed. So, were can I authoritativly detect what version of OS and DECWindows I run? Thank you for your patience. Wolfgang Ksoll ZRZ (CC), Tech.
