I've got this problem with Ultrix 4.0 and some diskless clients. I've just installed 4.0 on the server (a DECstation 3100 called zeus) which seems to be running fine, and have followed the manuals exactly to try and set up a couple of clients (cronos and odin). Trouble is, they get part way through the boot process and then hang. The last messages to appear on the console are: root on zeus:/dlclient0/cronos.root swap on zeus:/dlclient0/cronos.root/dev/swap swap size - 32768 blocks and then a total lock... I've tried all I can think of to figure this one out, anybody got any ideas? -- Alistair Veitch Systems Programmer/Analyst Internet: acv@waikato.ac.nz Phone: +64 71 562889 ext. 8341 SNAIL: Computer Services, University of Waikato, Hamilton, New Zealand

Check the /etc/exports file on the host. It sounds as though the swap file is either not being exported, or is being exported with the wrong permissions. Frank
