[comp.unix.ultrix] SLIP/Ultrix 4.1

mra@srchtec.uucp (Michael Almond) (12/07/90)

Has anyone tried using 'slattach' provided with the Ultrix 4.1 (unsupported)?
I rebuild the kernel with 'sl' and was going to play with the /etc/sliphosts.
However, 'slattach' core dumps when I run it and no other messages appear.

Thanks.

PS: We are going to eventually use it to connect with PSInet.

Are there any empty lines in /etc/sliphosts? Slattach doesn't check for
the null case and merrily looks into what it thinks is a real string.
A hash is sufficient to clear up this problem.

Handy hint: if you dbx slattach, stop in main, and "a sldebug=1" then
continue, slattach will log interesting stuff thru syslog.
