[comp.unix.ultrix] available software on ultrix4.1 risc?

klarich@d.cs.okstate.edu (KLARICH TERRY JAME) (12/18/90)

We are considering getting a dec 5500 risc machine. However, I would like
to know if any of these programs are available or are on the unsupported
tape? I know some of this is available from the gnu project or just off
the net.

Modula2 Is it on the unsupported tape?
lisp Is it on the unsupported tape?
ml
c++
gnu stuff (gas gcc g++...) Will it compile?
ada
scheme
emacs
spice

If you have any comments about any of these; please let me know. I will
provide a summery upon request.

In article <1990Dec17.213548.3247@d.cs.okstate.edu>
klarich@d.cs.okstate.edu (KLARICH TERRY JAME) asks if
a bunch of different stuff is available for Ultrix 4.1/RISC.
The answer to most of his requests is probably yes, although
I'm not sure about precise details.

As far as Modula-2 and Scheme are concerned, the sources for
versions of these languages are available for anonymous FTP
from gatekeeper.dec.com:
	pub/DEC/Scheme-to-C
	pub/DEC/Modula-2
and also
	pub/DEC/Modula-3
(these are all directories containing several files).

Warning: read the copyright notices before doing anything rash.

P.S.: Do not even think of asking me to send you this stuff,
or asking me how it works or what it does or why it's not what
you want. I won't respond to your message.
