[comp.unix.ultrix] rebuilding rgb.dat under Ultrix

vlr@litwin.com (Vic Rice) (12/22/90)

I am running X on a DECStation 5000 w/ Ultrix 4.0 (X11R3). I am
porting some Motif apps from an SCO ODT environment to this
DECStation. One of the first things noticed was the color mapping
in rgb.txt was different from what was on the SCO box. So, I
proceeded to copy the rgb.txt from the SCO system to the DECStation
with the intent of rebuilding the color map.
First, the result of "rgb rgb < rgb.txt" on the SCO box yields new
rgb.map and rgb.dat files. On the DECStation this command yields new
rgb.dir and rgb.pag files. I would have expected this to be the same.
Oh well .......

However, after the rgb command to rebuild the color database, no change
seems to have occurred as far as X is concerned. Cyan in the original
rgb.txt file was 0 255 255. Cyan in the new (SCO) rgb.txt is 0 130 130.
But my motif window borders, set to Cyan, look the same before and after
rebuilding the rgb database. What gives ???
