[comp.unix.ultrix] Printer Accounting on Ultrix4.1/DS3100

janick@bcrkd13.bnr.ca (Janick Bergeron) (02/21/91)

I wish to monitor printer usage via the accounting facility.
I've added an 'af=/usr/adm/ln03r.acct' entry in my /etc/printcap
file and restarted the lpd deamon but no information gets written
to the accounting file.

I 'touch'ed the file which is owned by root, mode 644. Its size remains 0.

Where did I go wrong ???

You might want to try protecting them 664. My accounting files are owner root,
group system, and mode 664 and things work ok.

Another potential problem could be the filter: does it support accounting?
