[comp.unix.ultrix] MOTIF <-> DECWINDOWS

douglas@dekalb.UUCP (Douglas B. Jones) (02/27/91)

I recently downloaded ~gatekeeper.dec.com/pub/X11/contrib/xglobe.tar.Z.

After uncompressing it and taring it, I found out that it requires MOTIF.

I am currently on a DS3100 running ULTRIX 4.0 with DECWINDOWS. The makefile
requires (this is from memory) the files in /usr/lib/DXM, /usr/lib/XM, and
the same in /usr/include. I take these to mean X MOTIF and DEC X MOTIF. I
do not have this on my current release and understand that this is suppose
to be in with the next major release. My question is:

1) Is there a version of xglobe that will run on what I have (as above)
   (I saw this program running on a MVII/GPX and DS3100 at the DEC ACTS
    center in Atlanta in the last year or so (pre-ULTRIX 4.0).), or

2) is there another route I should be taking.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Douglas

Motif is currently available as a layered product for Ultrix. xglobe
works properly with the layered product. Porting it to other widget
sets should be straight forward, if you understand how to write
widgets.
