We've been trying to set up a SLIP connection, initially hardwired between two 2100's. It works, but if you attempt to break the connection (kill -HUP <slattach>, ifconfig sl0 down) and make another one, the result is an "illegal operation" when slattach (the master or slave) attempts to set the destination Internet address. The only way to make another connection is to reboot the workstations! We tried to hook the CSLIP sources into a 4.1 kernel yesterday, and came up with two undefined symbols, which probably means the Ultrix and Berkeley sources are out of sync as far as networking is concerned. (We don't have Ultrix sources.) We're going to get the current Berkeley networking sources, but this could turn into a mountain of work. Has anybody succeeded in making this work cleanly? Any thoughts gratefully accepted! Thanks, Jim -- James G. Watt Voice: +1 408 433 4800 Finnigan Corporation 355 River Oaks Pkwy.
