Does anyone know where I can FTP a pre-built (ie. binary) version of tcsh that will work on a Decstation 5000 running Ultrix 4.1. The stuff located at tesla.ee.cornell.edu is only useful if you have BSD source. Thanks, Doug Dunlop E-mail dunlop@wateol.UWaterloo.CA

There are quite a few versions of tcsh on gatekeeper.dec.com. This posting contains all I could find. Hopefully one of them should fit the bill. To find out about all of the other software available on gatekeeper, get the file /pub/ls-lR.Z (or /pub/ls-lRt.Z). -Jeff --------------------------------- /pub/comp.sources.unix/volume11/tcsh: total 125 -r--r--r-- 1 tp 23756 Aug 12 1987 part01.Z -r--r--r-- 1 tp 16425 Aug 12 1987 part02.Z -r--r--r-- 1 tp 20175 Aug 12 1987 part03.Z -r--r--r-- 1 tp 20224 Aug 12 1987 part04.Z -r--r--r-- 1 tp 21435 Aug 12 1987 part05.Z -r--r--r-- 1 tp 23269 Aug 12 1987 part06.Z /pub/comp.sources.unix/volume11/tcsh.4.3: total 54 -r--r--r-- 1 root 27045 Sep 29 1987 part01.Z -r--r--r-- 1 root 26816 Sep 29 1987 part02.Z /pub/misc: -r--r--r-- 1 root 328192 Sep 24 10:48 tcsh-5.19.tar.Z -r--r--r-- 1 root 399058 Nov 13 11:32 tcsh-5.20.tar.Z /pub/misc/tcsh-5.18c: total 2592 -r--r--r-- 1 root 307647 Aug 11 1990 tcsh-5.18c.tar.Z -r--r--r-- 1 root 285016 Aug 11 1990 tcsh.aix370 -r--r--r-- 1 root 209208 Aug 11 1990 tcsh.att3b15-svr2.1 -r--r--r-- 1 root 242852 Aug 11 1990 tcsh.att3b2-svr3.1 -r--r--r-- 1 root 266240 Aug 11 1990 tcsh.ds3100-ultrix3.0 -r--r--r-- 1 root 212992 Aug 11 1990 tcsh.hp9000s300-6.5 -r--r--r-- 1 root 274432 Aug 11 1990 tcsh.hp9000s300-7.0 -r--r--r-- 1 root 299008 Aug 11 1990 tcsh.hp9000s800-7.0 -r--r--r-- 1 root 40139 Aug 11 1990 tcsh.man -r--r--r-- 1 root 245760 Aug 11 1990 tcsh.sun4-sunos4.1 -r--r--r-- 1 root 158720 Aug 11 1990 tcsh.vax-mtXinu

Boehm Thanks to Eric for pointing out that the tcsh binaries are available from tesla.ee.cornell.edu. Binaries are available for a number of operations systems and versions. Thanks to all who responded via e-mail I have retrieved the tesla binaries and will give them a try. Regards, Doug Dunlop E-mail: dunlop@wateol.UWaterloo.CA

You need the 4.2 or 4.3 CSH sources if you are going to build tcsh. CSH sources (currently) require an ATT source license. There many TCSH binaries floating around. It is unclear whether or not those are legal; I believe you need a reseller's license before you can do that. /rich $alz -- Please send comp.sources.unix-related mail to rsalz@uunet.uu.net.
