[comp.unix.ultrix] can't distribute auth database in ENHANCED seclevel

raeder@eva.fmi.uni-passau.de (Lars Raeder) (04/10/91)

I want to distribute the auth database using BIND/Hesiod. I have set up
kerberos correctly (I hope), but as soon as "bind" appears in /etc/svc.conf
in the "auth" line, /usr/bin/passwd won't work properly anymore running in
ENHANCED security level:

Kerberos initialization failure
Changing password for root
Unable to retrieve auth information for root.

I even tested it on the server-machine... What is wrong?

That's what you get for trying to make a single acronym to unify
"password" and "auth."
:-) (sorry) (No, I don't know the answer and don't work with those things.)

If this were the company's opinion, I wouldn't be allowed to post it.
