1200bps makes it sound fast; the actual thruput is well under what you
get over 300 baud phone lines, due to turnaround delays and protocol overhead
and repeaters rebroadcasting on the same frequency.  I'd try a cellular
phone with a 300 baud modem before I used this technology.
