[comp.unix.ultrix] Object files in /usr/sys/MIPS/* & /usr/lib/cmplrs/*

bryan@GOMEZ.phys.virginia.edu (Bryan K. Wright) (04/19/91)

Hi folks,

Yesterday, I noticed that there are a lot of object files in
/usr/sys/MIPS/* and /usr/lib/cmplrs/*. Since there seems to be source
code for each of these objects (at least the subset I've looked at
so far), do I need to preserve the *.o files? Are they just leftovers
from the system installation, or does the system actually refer to
them at some time? It would save a lot of space if I could safely
delete them.

By the way, I'm running Ultrix 4.0 on a DECstation 3100.

				Thanks in advance,
				Bryan.
