Hi,

I am tring to build Gnu emacs on a Dec 3100/Risc, afterwards I
can move on to other thing. However I am having a hard time
with config.h, yet I know it's possible. Can one of you gurus
please post the config.h file or mail me a copy.

   Thanks in advance..........................................

First, make sure you're using GNU Emacs v18.55. I don't remember the
exact settings for config.h, but if you look in etc/MACHINES, you'll
find the info you need.

Your .signature is really long.

On to the main subject, though. You can build GNU Emacs version
18.55 out of the box - the config file for the pmax is included.
It's called m-pmax.h.

Is the format of the cardfile published anywhere. I want to add 2000 card
stack, but I don't want to enter it by hand.

thanks,

I tried this, too, and the only way I can get it to work is with

	cc ... -lF77 -lI77 -lU77 -lm -lF77

libF77.a needs to be searched twice, the second time only for a symbol
_sabort.

We have recently brought up X11R4 on our DECstation 3100 under
Ultrix 4.1. We have a group of Xterminals, 1200's and 1000's and
we would like their screens managed by xdm.

We put entries in the Xservers file like:

ilex:0 VT1200 foreign

and sent a SIGHUP to xdm. It reset ilex's screen (went grey--
everything was gone). The Xterm was locked solid. The error
messages in xdm-errors are shown below.

error (pid 14887): Hung in XOpenDisplay(ilex:0), aborting
error (pid 14887): server open failed for ilex:0, giving up

What else needs to be done to get the X terminal ilex to accept the
login screen and other X messages from the DECstation?

Please mail to me and I will collect responses and post back
a summary.

Does anyone know of a program that will emulate the EDT editor from a VAX that
runs on an Ultrix system? I am running a DECstation 5000/200 with Ultrix 4.1.
Thank you.

You can get and EDT emulator from Boston Business Systems
or a TPU emulator from aSoft which will run EDT compatibility.

See any unix magazine for adverts.
