Well, 16 months after we received our 5810, the DEC feild service representative wandered in with an FCO that replaced both processor boards and all the console microcode. The documentation seemed to suggest that this was required to support multi-processing and Ultrix 4.0... It would be nice if this represented the fixes required to make Ultrix SMP work with any degree of efficiency. While I'm not eager to buy a second processor board to add some oats, it's a more palatble alternative than replacing the system with a DS5000 or DS5500. 8-( Anybody heard any rumors about whether DEC is doing anything about a second generation 5800 CPU board, either with more cache or the (someday) MIPS R4000 chip? Or have they just written it off as a good idea that didn't work out all that well? -- George Robbins - now working for, uucp: {uunet|pyramid|rutgers}!cbmvax!grr but no way officially representing: domain: grr@cbmvax.commodore.com Commodore, Engineering Department phone: 215-431-9349 (only by moonlite)
