I upgraded from Ultrix/UWS 4.0 to 4.1 last week (finally). Since I recieved a new system disk I installed from scratch. I did however, copy over my old 4.0 config files. I got my disk partitions set, and everything went fine - until the DECstation (5000/200) suddenly started responding to *EVERY* LAT request. The poor LAT clients, of course, got upset at getting two responses to their request broadcast. Terminal servers that had a circuit open already were fine. But if the circuit had to be established - my DECstation tried to answer. I rebooted and everything was fine for days - until yesterday, when the same thing started happening again. Now, I had the DECstation set up to only offer a 'date' service (as in the Ultrix DOC example). That connected fine. I couldn't see anything weird going on the workstation. TCP/IP on the network was going okay, also. I captured some frames with our sniffer, and I could see the terminal server request go out, and the DECstation sending a response to BOTH the terminal server and the service host. I don't know LAT enough to understand what on earth the DECstation was trying to do. Rebooting again caused the network to go back to normal. Any ideas as to what might be causing the DECstation to go LAT crazy? Thanks, Barry Archer archerb@gawain.umkc.edu ! Ultrix archerb@vax1.umkc.edu ! VMS archerb@kuhub.cc.ukans.edu ! Guest
