[comp.unix.ultrix] XOFF problem with DECStation 5000

vossj@topaz.ucq.edu.au (05/18/91)

I've currently got a HP Laserjet I connected to a DECStation 5000 (ULTRIX 4.1)
via /dev/tty01 (RS232 port on rear of DECStation). I'm experiencing frequent
buffer overflow errors on the laserjet. On investigation I found that the
laserjet was sending XOFF's but the DECStation 5000 seems to ignore them
ocassionally. One instance I saw over 50 XOFF's sent to the 5000 before
dataflow stopped.

Here's my printcap entry. I'm using a filter which was provided with DEC's
PATHWORKS for ULTRIX V1.0.

Has anyone experienced anything like this?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
   John
