Er, that was supposed to be "Between"...
How much difference is there in graphics performance specs on the DECstation
500/125, with the 50Mhz TurboChannel verses the DECstation 500/200 and its
100Mhz bus? For the purposes of arguement, I'd like to hear about the
entry-level 3-D (ie: PXG) configurations of both machines.

In regards to Doug's inquiry (assuming it's 3D performance you want
to know about):
System type 3D Kvectors/s 3D Kpolygons/s
----------- ------------- --------------
DS5000/120 PXG 274 51
DS5000/120 PXG TURBO 285 100
DS5000/125 PXG 292 51
DS5000/125 PXG TURBO 300 100
DS5000/200 PXG 305 52
DS5000/200 PXG TURBO 444 102
NOTES:
* 3D vectors: 10-pixel, 10-segment polylines, random orientation
and clip checked.
* 3D polygons: 100-pixel, 10-triangle strip, shaded, default and
directional lighted, Z-buffered and clip checked.
I would like to clarify a couple of points:
* The DS5000/100 series machines uses a 12.5Mhz TURBOchannel as
compared to the DS5000/200 series 25Mhz TURBOchannel. I think
that Doug was confusing the MB/s rates (50MB/s and 100MB/s are
the respective architectures) in DMA burst mode with the Mhz
clock rate of the TURBOchannels.
* The clock rate is the only variant in the TURBOchannel between
the DS5000/100 and DS5000/200 machines.
I hope that this helps.
Thanx,
AJ
