Has anybody out there tried to install the 4.2 updgrade yet? I found that the mandatory upgrade tape included is full of ULT and UWS subsets, even though it's labeled as "RISC", which implies it should have UDT and UDW subsets. Are they all screwed up, or did I get a "special"? -- George Robbins - now working for, uucp: {uunet|pyramid|rutgers}!cbmvax!grr but no way officially representing: domain: grr@cbmvax.commodore.com Commodore, Engineering Department phone: 215-431-9349 (only by moonlite)

Shoot. Shoot. Shoot. Yeah, the Customer Support Center just reported this as a problem. I'll pass on details as I get them (unless I get slapped down) but I believe that someone screwed up and the RISC tapes have VAX bits. George is right-on and I doubt if this is an isolated case... we'll see. And to answer someone else, no there is no way to do a simple upgrade. Anyone gotten the CDROM yet? That should have RISC and VAX. I am told *it* is missing the boot block though... Nyuk Nyuk Nyuk. Fred

YEs, the CDROM report/suggestion by me was based on old data. The new data seems to indicate that the 4.2 CDROM distributio is A-OK. (Thanks Frank.) F
