Cellular phone cell handoffs generally cause a pretty good CLICK. It might well be enough to drop many modems. I don't think that many handoffs are going to occur (if any!) when you're stationary, however. Sometimes handoffs don't work at all. These are the notorious "black holes" that many users have complained about in many metro areas... --Lauren--

How about thinking here people, just think about how cells are designed. Handoffs DO occur even when you are stationary. If you are in a position that can be served by more than one cell, then even though you may be stationary and in a clean spot, you may be handed off to make way for someone in another adjacent cell to move to your cell, either for load or coverage purposes. Cells are very dynamic. Trust me, the handoff will wreak havoc with 1200 bps modem. mikey at trsvax
