We are considering the purchase of a parallel architecture machine for the teaching of and research into parallel programming. We have received some sales literature on the Multimax from Encore and have heard how Newcastle University (UK) are using such a system. Encore do not have a separate European office so it's difficult for us to judge how reliable a company they are. I'd be grateful if any Multimax owners could email me with their impressions of the company, its competence, solvency and long-term outlook. I'd also like to know what you think about the Multimax, hardware and software, and how you think it compares with other shared memory multiprocessor systems. Please email me on the internet at: robert%cm.cf.ac.uk@nss.cs.ucl.ac.uk or via UUCP: robert@cf-cm.UUCP or ...!uunet!mcvax!ukc!cf-cm!robert All replies will be treated in confidence and won't be held against you. -- Robert Evans, Dept of Computing Maths, University of Wales College of Cardiff, PO Box 916, Cardiff, Wales, UK, CF2 4YN.
