[comp.sys.encore] limiting the number of pages of memory

m4@UX.ACSS.UMN.EDU (03/02/89)

Is there any way to limit the number of pages of memory a process
can have at once? (so that a user job can not gobble up all of
real memory with one process.)

See setrlimit(2) and the shell command "limit". I am not sure where
the default, system wide values for these come from...I thought it was
settable by sysparam but closer investigation shows that not to be the
case.

You wouldn't happen to be running parallel OPS5 would you ?
