Does anybody have 5.61+IDA running under Umax4.2? I've been playing it with recently and it looks like it is possible, but a reasonable amount of work would be required. I'm using the resolver library from the UofT BIND distribution, which seems to work ok. Anybody else working on this too? No, but I've got a vanilla sendmail-5.61 (with Bind4.8.2). I'm not using it for "production" yet, as I don't currently have the time to fix up my sendmail.cf file to go with it. But, it does appear to work. I don't know if the massive problems you see with 5.61+IDA are IDA-related or not; it was not too hard to get 5.61 working under UMAX4.2. In particular, an 8K shar file with everything you need (including a function to use inq_stats() and return a load avg) is available for anonymous ftp from xylogics.com in the /pub directory. Note that if you are running MACH on you Multimax, you'd already have a working sendmail 5.61 (I think they've been distibuting it with MACH since Berkeley released 5.61). UMAX4.3, on the other hand, is using the SunOS4.0 sendmail (apparently along with much of the other code from the "portable" NFS distribution). However, this means that the nasty security hole that is in SunOS4.0 sendmail is probably present in the UMAX4.3 beta distribution. Hopefully, it will be fixed before UMAX4.3 is released. This security hole is only in SunOS4.0 sendmail; it is not part of 5.61. John
