The Open Software Foundation is initiating another round of roadshows focused on OSF technology. It is imperative that the programs are well attended. Below is the all the pertinent information. We need your help in making these programs successful. Please get the word out ASAP. If you know others on E-mail that will forward the message to/within their respective companies please ask them to do so. (note Boston is first on the calendar; March 13th) Thx, Bob Goldschneider - ---------------------------------------------------------------- The Open Software Foundation presents 1990 Technical Seminar Series The Open Software Foundation invites you to participate in our 1990 Technical Seminar Series, in-depth seminars on the OSF/1 operating system and the OSF/Motif graphical user interface. By taking advantage of these seminars, you can stay abreast of new and emerging technology being developed by OSF. Whether you are a programmer, an independent software vendor, or a strategic planner, these seminars will help you increase your knowledge of the open computing environment of the future. The Open Software Foundation has made a major impact on the open computing market since it was founded by eight major computer vendors in May 1988. First with the introduction of the award-winning OSF/Motif graphical user interface, and now with the availability of snapshots--source code and documentation for the OSF/1 operating system-- OSF helped shape the open systems environment for the 1990's. OSF's 1990 Technical Seminar Series is devided into two tracks. Track one provides a close look at the components of the OSF/1 operating system. Integrating several advanced operating system technologies, the OSF/1 offering is based on the Mach kernel from Carnegie Mellon University. It provides capability for symmetric multiprocessing and for achieving a B1 level of security. The Track One program provides an overview of the architecture and features of the OSF/1 operating system, including its compatibility with other UNIX-based systems as well as special functions and benefits provided by new technology. Track Two covers the components of the OSF/Motif graphical user interface and their behavior, and describes how to program OSF/Motif applications using the OSF/Motif Toolkit and User Interface Language. Instructors will cover individual components of the OSF/Motif graphical user interface in detail. At the site of each seminar, OSF will also set up a demonstration area where you can see OSF/1 and OSF/Motif implementatioans running on various hardware platforms.
