[comp.sys.encore] Anyone doing program to program file transfer over 3270 SNA?

tom@litle.UUCP (tom hampton) (06/15/90)

I need very solid SNA communications between Unix and the IBM world.

Specifically, I'd like to hear from folks who are doing file
transfer over 3270 SNA or 3770 RJE. The thing is, I need something
that I can get to work well in a very short period of time.

Anybody doing this today with good results?

We use NCR towers at remote sites to batch work into our 3084 host via
NCR's SNA RJE subsystem. We also provide 3270 sessions to our users
thru ASCII 3270 lookalike terminals attached to the Tower, 3270 terminal
mapping is done thru the 3270 terminfo facility so support can be provided
for virtually any terminal you choose. The Tower looks like a 3174 to
the host, the RJE is 3770. The NCR solution is very solid and we are
satisfied with it. I can't speak for 386 based products as we have none
at our workplace. Maybe someone else can render commentary on 3270
solutions for 386 platforms ?
