[comp.sys.encore] Building Perl on a Gould PowerNode 9000

epeterso@encore.com (Eric Peterson) (09/18/90)

I'm attempting to build Perl here on a Gould PowerNode 9000, and I
keep getting the following error message during the Make:

./perl -e '($r,$p)=$]=~/(\d+\.\d+).*\n\D*(\d+)/;' -e 'print ".ds RP Release $r Patchlevel $p\n";' >perl.man
sh: 13272 Illegal instruction - core dumped
*** Exit 132
Stop.

I've tested Perl on several other scripts included with Perl and all
of them core dump as well.

Has anyone out there built Perl 3.0 PL 28 successfully on such a
system? If so, please let me know via e-mail.

Thanks.

Eric
