[net.micro] Teaching with Intel 8096

Is the line eater still around?

At the University of Waterloo, the Electrical Engineering Dept.
is planning a new interfacing course for next summer. We plan on using the
Intel 8096/97 microcontroller. We will be building a board with
basic ROM and RAM on it, and the students will be adding their
I/O designs via wire wrap.
I am interested in hearing from anyone who has had either
good or bad experiences with this chip. Also any feedback
on using wire-wrap in a student environment would also be appreciated.
As usual please post responses and I will summarize to the net.

                         Thanks in advance
                          Roger
