[comp.sys.transputer] Steady Flow ? Strike ? A1x0 ????

PVR%bgerug51.earn@NSS.CS.UCL.AC.UK (Patrick Van Renterghem / Transputer Lab) (09/15/88)

Who said something about a steady flow of electronic messages from Europe, not
mentioning Topologix, Cogent or CSA (who also have plug-in boards for Mac, PS/2
Microvax, PC and Apollo and Sun workstation support, as I discovered recently).

It looks like not only the postman are (were to be precisely) on strike in the
U.K., but also the electrons...

Nobody responded to my question about telecommunications and networking appli-
cations with transputers, although I know that Renishaw and some Japanese
companies with weird names have manufactured useful equipment :-).

More specifically, is there anyone who is using the A100's for any signal
processing, ... ? Are there other solutions for the people who want to do
DSP with transputers ? The T800 is not bad for such applications, but it might
need some help from its friends (A100, A110 ?) to outperform special-purpose
DSP chips, as the TMS320 family or ATT's DSP32. Has someone done benchmarks on
this, comparing e.g. FFT times for transputers with DSP chips ?

Anxiously awaiting your reply,

Patrick
