[comp.sys.transputer] Problems with the Inmos B011

davidj@cernvax.UUCP (davidj) (12/07/88)

Does anyone have a working Inmos B011 Transputer card. i.e one which will
act a a VME master, a VME slave, pass the TDS network tester program and
pass on the IACKIN/OUT VMEbus signals without corrupting them, and even
have the 2Mbytes of dram working ???????

We have four of them, two originals which have different errors, and two
brand new, shining replacements especially shipped to us beacause the
first two don't work. And guess what, only one works !!!!

Are we alone in our problems ?
Is a 75% failure rate normal ?

We have a working B011. We went through three of them very fast but we've been
running with this one reliably for several months. The boards are very
fragile, in fact I'm afraid to unseat our current board as that has led to
failures. We've also had a board go out when adding a TRAM module, or trying
to bring the links off the PGA header. So I'd say 75% is about right,
although we didn't have any failures out of the box. If you haven't tried
so already you should try a different transputer in your B011 because we've
had one or two of them go out on us too.
