SERC/DTI Initiative in the Engineering Applications of Transputers International Conference on the Applications of Transputers at the University of Liverpool, England Conference and exhibition: Applications of Transputers 23-25 August 1989 Tutorial: Introduction to Transputer Applications 22 August 1989 The principal objective of the conference will be to highlight advances in algorithms and applications software on transputer based architectures. The programme will include both numerical applications (eg CFD, Finite Elements, Molecular Modelling, Oil and Geoscience applications) and non-numerical applications (eg image processing, computer vision, robotics). It is expected that the programme will be divided between languages/software tools, algorithms/software and specific applications. The conference will appeal to anyone with an interest in the provision and use of transputer machines. In conjunction with the associated exhibition, it is intended to provide a comprehensive overview of hardware and architecture development together with languages and software tools for supporting parallel processing on transputers. There will be about ten invited talks, twenty contributed talks and a poster session. The conference lectures will be held in the University Lecture Room Building, Brownlow Hill. A major exhibition of state-of-the-art transputer products will be staged in the nearby Mountford Hall to coincide with the conference. Accommodation fir the participants will be available in the University Halls of Residence. Immediately prior to the conference on Tuesday 22 August there will be a half-day Introduction to Transputer Applications tutorial run by the [Transputer Initiative, North West] Regional Support Centre. It is anticipated that the exhibition will be open from lunch time on Tuesday 22 August to delegates attending either the tutorial or the conference. Visitors to the exhibition who do not wish to attend the conference will be welcome on payment of a nominal fee. There will also be displays of books on parallel processing by various publishers in addition to the commercial software and transputer system displays. The conference timetable is such that there will be lectures on Wednesday (am/pm), Thursday (am/pm), and Friday (am only). On Wednesday evening there will be a reception hosted by the University and the conference dinner will be on Thursday evening. Proceedings ~~~~~~~~~~~ All the papers will be refereed and those accepted will appear in the proceedings, which are to be published and will be available to the delegates at the conference.
