If you had an electronically switched Meiko system one problem I could imagine arising is that of explaining to the switch- setting software which MK009's have which kind of transputer (T4 or T8) on them. The software we have from Meiko allows you to specify that a given process (in the PROGRAM fold) will sit on a processor on a particular type of board - but it doesn't allow any more precise placement than that. ie, if not all processors on all MK009's (for example) are equivalent you could have problems getting T4 code onto T4's and T8 code onto T8's.
