[comp.sys.transputer] Niche modules == INMOS modules?

lindsay@watnext.waterloo.edu (03/24/89)

From: Lindsay Patten <lindsay@watnext>

Are the modules which fit onto the Niche NT1000 motherboard
in fact INMOS modules? With Niche (seemingly) gone I would
still like to fully populate my NT1000 any way possible. Can
I just buy and plug in INMOS modules using appropriate pin
connectors?

Thanks,
	Lindsay

Are INMOS modules and NEICHE modules (TRAMs) the same ?

Well.... INMOS TRAMs are designed according to a publically
available spec. (INMOS technical note number 29, get it from
your local sales office).

Neiche used the same pinout and electrical spec, however they
made modules which are mechanically incompatible with the
INMOS spec. (they are larger and use different pins).

Since the INMOS modules are smaller and the pinouts are the same,
INMOS TRAMs will work on the NT1000 board.

Don't expect Neiche modules to fit all other motherboards.

I hope this is of help.
