Hi! Although I have missed a little discussion regarding this, why not make the net.vms? Apart from being "sole source" in a number of places, it is also technically interesting and could benefit non-vms users. By making USENET strictly a UNIX-only environment, lots of non-unix sites would think twice before joining it. on the other hand, coverage of a few more machines could gibe clout to the net, increase its audience and the readers' benefits. The additional volume on the net can be accomodated somehow, and we could all make AT&T long distance a little happier in phone calls :-). So it is not a case of a single group, but more a policy issue, more general. (if someone bothers, please post it in the other groups (i.e. net.sources, net.whatever) as I am in a csnet only site.
