[comp.sys.transputer] Transputing

gessel@cs.swarthmore.edu (Dan Gessel) (04/26/89)

Could anyone out there take the time to e-mail or regular mail info about
what the Transputer can do? From reading this group, I get the impression
that it is possible to put transputer boards in various computers, but
also that you can get transputer based computers. Could someone tell
me how correct that impression is?

I get a sense that the Transputer is an extremely powerful parallel processor.
I'm interested in computer graphics, and am hoping to find a way to set up a
system that can ray trace complex images in reasonable time. The Transputer
sounds like it may be a good solution, however, I really know very little
about it with respect to potential/cost.

If there is information (brochures etc.) that could be mailed to me from
dealers, my address is:

Thank You,

Dan
