Under MS-DROSS the options are fairly limited, the only consolation is that half the planet is tryin g to solve the same p[roblem. Some optiuons: 1. MS-Windows - This requires MAJOR modification to code, but offers nice graphics, windowing, mouse support, etc. The DDE interface alos gives you a way to have applications communicate in a well behaved manner. 2. DESQview - We've successfully used this to run a host to 'puter server while simultaneously running standrad DOS stuff. There is additional support for inter-process communication if you buy their SDK (software development kit.). 3. InterViews (sorry, this name may be wrong) - Lighter and less filling than DESQVIEW, it runs a smalle4r kernel, and it appears that processes can run in the background without requiring that thjey manifest themselves to the user in any manner. Other options all involve giving up on DOS, which is something we'll all have to do eventually... 1. OS/2 2. XENIX One other option that may be worth exploring is something based on a TSR or a device driver. What if the transputer array appeared as a device to which one could read and write? Don't ask me how to porogram it... Apologies for the sketchiness of some of the above info, if anyone out there would like some definites such as the correct name of InterViews, I can get it and pass it on. Regards, Steven W.
